The JZ Knight Humanities Foundation:

Since 1988, JZ has given $1,181,067.93 dollars to 200 graduating High School seniors that they may pursue their educational goals. In 1996 a total of $280,000.00 was given to 39 graduating seniors. Says Yelm High School counselor Carol Parker; "JZ has done a lot for the kids in our community. Her generous scholarships have given them the opportunity to further their education."

JZ's largesse does not stop at Yelm. She is also sponsoring two young women from Greece who are attending college in the United States. The only prerequisite for these two non-English speaking teenagers was that if they were to go, they would have to learn the language beforehand. Both of them did so. In a recent letter to JZ by one of them, a report card was included in which it showed that she got straight A's and had made the Dean's list. This woman wasn't able to speak English two years ago.

JZ and her students have been involved in many community projects. For the past several years, JZ has supported a little league football team called the Yelm Knights. She has also sponsored three of the six teams in the Babe Ruth League baseball program. JZ has also been supportive of alternative school endeavors, having made generous contributions to two such schools. It might surprise people to know that Ms. Knight even once gave one of the local church groups $3,000.00 at the last minute to help pay for a well for Ugandans in Kampala. The group had had enough money, but the exchange rate changed and at the last minute, they needed additional funds. JZ came through for this Christian church group.

Says JZ's longtime administrative assistant, Vicky Kady; "JZ is the most generous person I have ever met." Says another employee; "Ramtha has always stressed the importance of giving. JZ exemplifies a generosity of the spirit that is quite rare." Says Religious Scholar Dr. Franklin Littell; "It is very easy for religious movements or philosophical movements that emphasize the reflection of the Self to forget about those who are out there, outside of the community. It is significant that JZ Knight emphasizes her sense of responsibility for the well-being of the community and people who are not members of the group."
